Matt Feron has been licensed in California since early 2011. Starting his career as a deputy district attorney for both Tulare County and San Bernardino County, he has handled hundreds of cases in the criminal arena ranging everywhere from petty theft to kidnapping and robbery, allowing him to hone his courtroom presence and trial skills. Since then, he has opened his own firm in Santa Ana, practicing both criminal defense and estate planning.
Some people seem surprised that a deputy district attorney would enter the field of criminal defense. Some think of it as switching sides. The thing is, there is no light side or dark side. There is the law. The defendant in a case has just as much right to be represented under that law as do the people of the county that the prosecution represents.
The legal system is complex and can be confusing, if not downright frightening. Part of his job is to help people understand the process, what’s going on, and what it means to them. The other part of his job is to make sure the law is applied appropriately to everyone involved, and ensure that everyone is performing to the highest standard.
People should not be in the dark when it comes to the law, and they deserve a person who will help them through whatever burden they may be facing.
